Vanilla Fir Honey

Fir honey is a variety produced from honeydew collected from certain species of insects that feed on fir trees. The insects eat the sap of the tree and secrete a sticky, sugary liquid called honeydew. Bees collect the nectar produced by these insects and use it to make a flavorful, dark honey known as fir or pine. This particular variety is valued for its tasty, resinous, mildly sweet taste, rich color and impressive antiseptic, expectorant, antioxidant and soothing properties.
